Always wondered why it is difficult to convince your little ones to be happy with just one app on your mobile? Welcome to consumerism. We end up consuming whatever we don't have enough. And, that which is purer or immaculate is more attractive.
Firstly every millennial dad will say : “Google it”. There’s no doubt that you and I know very well that we do live in a world. We barely have the know to educate our own kids. Kids today are learning what one a millennial would have learnt in their HSC. And since we live in 2017, I am scared by how much more school education is becoming more expensive. I feel sad for the kids.
What can we say? A small world full of tech based interconnected lives. If you took even a superficial look around, we can find that even someone opposite your cubicle may be reading this article from your laptop or even your mobile phone. Everybody now became so full of interest to know every detail through applications, websites, social media about anybody and everybody. You may find even a headline says “OMG , look what this celeb looks like?” with more than 300.000 views
I guess you now understand what I am trying to say. Some people may say that this is pretty awesome now we are more connected to the outside world, we know what’s happening around us. And others may say that we lost each other, everybody is concerned with his phone. But I would like to be “in -between”
I agree and disagree because you can balance between your real-life and your technical-life. And since we live in a technological life, I found out that even education became available for everyone. Some types of schools now are providing their educational materials through i-pads and laptops.
You can even if you don’t have a cent to pay for enrolling in a reputable school. You can educate you self through a Wifi-connection, paper, pen and a nice cup of coffee. I guess you will ask me how? are you saying anything just to fill whatever you are trying to do?”
Actually, No I am not. Now in a tech-obsessed population you will find that I am right. Right now, there are several websites and applications which is providing many free and paid courses. Attend online lectures with approved certificates from very well-known universities and educational centers around the world. Through videos or through conferences or even through articles with quizzes and tasks to prove you have learned and have understood well what they are trying to illustrate providing many types of learning methods.
You can write online free courses on Google and find whatever you like. They provide so many courses for almost everyone who is interested to make him/herself of a value, learn new skills and develop him/herself through knowledge. If you are a very beginner in cooking or a lazy sob living alone with zero idea about how to cook. You can find courses about how to make a receipe with what basic groceries you've at home. And, what quantities. If you are a student who is eager to start his own business at early age, learn from the masters. There's a vast difference between being street smart, and being book smart. That’s why I always say I am in-between because the internet and the technology is not overall for no-brainers. I recently read a post where a university kid built a nano-satellite from the inscrutable lessons he took online.
I always ask my friends to dump wasteful social media. Instead of surfing your timelines for like 3 hours trying to find if your ex-girlfriend knows if she is dating another guy, I ask them try making up that hour of your valuable time to make yourself a better educated person through an online course which would add to your background and area of expertise. An average millennial has apprpox 3.5 lakh hours considering sleep time moved out from the equation. Spend that time well.
The idea of online courses would have a great reflection on the human being and on the economy of your nation. Share what you learn. You grow by lifting up others. Taking up an online courses makes you independent. Generations who is eager to build a nation need qualified personnel. With a very great and powerful economy to invest, we are still struggling to find talent. But, how long can we blame the skills gap and lack of data centers infrastructure? Use your money wisely in a world that needs to be educated.
Some would say that this is more awesome now we are more connected to the outside world, we know what’s happening around us. Keep exploring.
